Epping Forest

Published by admin on

Epping Forest is situated in the Northern Midlands of Tasmania near Cleveland. Once known as a feared haunt of bushrangers, Epping Forest now has several remaining heritage buildings. These include the nineteenth century Belle Vue homestead and outbuildings, the Georgian Macquarie House (built in the 1830s), and the two-storey brick Eagle Inn (now Fairfield), built in 1843 on the site of an early inn on the old highway route. When the ‘new’ highway was built, the proprietor of the old Eagle Inn constructed a new inn at nearby Powranna, The Eagles Return.
